Orangutans in Borneo are in desperate need of your help. Their forest home is being destroyed to make way for palm oil plantations. Adult orangutans are brutally killed for getting in the way - leaving their children orphaned, alone and terrified. The Nyaru Menteng Sanctuary is the only hope for the many hundreds of injured and abused orangutans who call it home. Please give as generously as you can to help. One year ago, WSPA and other animal welfare groups across Canada opposed Bill S-203, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (cruelty to animals). While the bill raised the penalties for animal abuse, it did not close the loopholes that make it difficult to prosecute animal cruelty crimes in the first place. Despite our opposition, the bill passed in the House of Commons and came into effect on April 17, 2008.
 UNITED CONDEMNATION OF NEW WHALING PLANS
WSPA and the world’s leading anti-whaling organizations condemn plans to allow hunts in Japanese coastal waters. Together we call for governments to oppose this deal, which could destroy the international ban on commercial whaling.
